Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum located in New York’s Hudson Valley, where visitors experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under open sky.

Advance tickets are recommended and are currently available for all dates through June. Tickets may also be purchased onsite at the Ticket & Information Pavilion. Admission for Storm King Members is always free, no ticket required.

Groups

Storm King offers discounted group admission for 12 or more people from schools, businesses, non-profit organizations, and tourism groups. Visit the Groups page for group admission options and to submit a request.

Availability is limited and requests must be submitted at least three weeks in advance.

First Fridays

Admission to Storm King is free on the first Friday of June, July, and August. Advance tickets are not required.

Programmatic support for First Fridays is provided by TD Charitable Foundation.

Library Passes: Library passes grant free one-day admission for two adults and all children under age 18 living in the same household. Please visit or contact your local library to check out a pass.

By Train

Storm King is accessible by Metro-North Railroad and NJ Transit. Train tickets must be purchased separately from museum admission.

Metro-North: Grand Central to Beacon
Beacon station is approximately 30 minutes from Storm King by car. The Storm King Shuttle from Beacon station will resume this fall.

NJ Transit: Penn Station (transfer at Secaucus Junction) or Hoboken to to Salisbury Mills-Cornwall. Cornwall station is approximately 10 minutes from Storm King by car.

By Bus

Coach USA offers roundtrip service from Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan to Storm King. Ticket package includes transportation and museum admission and must be purchased from Coach USA.

Outdoor Cafe

Outdoor Cafe Hours: 10AM–4PM daily, admission is required.

The Outdoor Cafe serves a seasonal selection of grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, and drinks on weekdays. A additional made-to-order menu is available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Bike Rental

Bike Rental Policies

  • For your safety and the safety of our site, personal bikes are not permitted onsite
  • Helmets must be worn when riding. We encourage you to bring your own helmet
  • An adult (18+) must be present for every rental
  • Bikes are suitable for individuals 4’7”–6’2”

Museum Store

Museum Store Hours: 10AM–5PM

The Museum Store is located in the Museum Building. Shop our full collection of Storm King merchandise, publications, toys and games for kids, jewelry, and more.

A selection of merchandise is also available in the Ticket & Information Pavilion at the entrance.

Members receive a 10% discount on Museum Store purchases.

Digital Guide: Bloomberg Connects

Storm King’s Digital Guide is available for free on Bloomberg Connects. The guide features information about the collection and exhibitions, audio and video commentary by artists and Storm King staff, suggested walking routes, activities for children and families, and more.

Accessibility

Service Animals: Storm King welcomes ADA Title III service animals only. Pets, emotional support animals, therapy animals, or animals whose function is to comfort do not qualify as service animals under the ADA and are not permitted. Handlers are solely responsible for the care and control of their service animal, which must remain on-leash.

Terrain: Storm King’s grounds comprise varied terrain including rolling meadows, hills, wooded areas, paved paths, gravel paths, and mown lawn. The visitor map indicates paved and unpaved paths and steep areas (where slope exceeds that of a wheelchair-accessible ramp, or 12.5%).

Tram Loop: A free wheelchair-accessible tram is available to help visitors move around the site. Visitors may get on or off the tram at any of the scheduled stops. The route and schedule are included on the visitor map.

Mobility aids: Visitors with a disability are welcome to bring their own adaptive bikes, mobility scooters, or other mobility aids. Not all roads and pathways will be appropriate for all devices. Storm King staff can help describe terrain and suggest accessible routes.

Wheelchairs: Manual wheelchairs are available for complimentary use on a first-come, first-served basis. Please speak to a member of Visitor Experience for more information.

Accessible Cart Service: Wheelchair-accessible golf cart rides are available to help visitors reach areas with inaccessible terrain. The cart makes short trips to specific destinations/artworks and can be reserved in advance or onsite. The cart accommodates up to five visitors sitting in seats; or one visitor using wheelchair with up to three additional passengers in seats. The weight capacity for the ramp is 650lbs. For more information or to reserve a ride call 845.534.3115.

Care Attendants: Admission is free for a care attendant accompanying a visitor with a disability.

Vision Access: Verbal descriptions for a number of permanent collection works are featured on Storm King’s free digital guide on the app, Bloomberg Connects. Visitors are invited to touch interactive artworks, which are indicated on the map and onsite with a hand symbol on the visitor map and the artwork’s label.

Restrooms: Accessible restrooms are available near the entrance. Additional accessible portable restroom stalls are located throughout Storm King and are indicated on the visitor map.

Natural Hazards: The site is open to the elements, is wooded, has running or sitting water, and is home to wildlife. Storm King does engage in maintenance and landscape management, visitors must be aware of the natural surroundings, including fallen and falling limbs, insects, reptiles, wild animals, mud, water hazards, steep slopes, and loose and uneven surfaces.

Visitor Policies

Respectful Conduct: Storm King seeks to provide a welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages. Visitors and staff have the right to a respectful environment free of abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behavior. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn. Please note that if needed, Storm King may remove any person acting in a disrespectful manner.

Notice: Visitors enter Storm King at their own risk. Storm King accepts no liability for personal injury or damage to personal property. Storm King is an indoor and outdoor environment that contains natural and man-made hazards. Please obey signs and exercise care while on site.

Nature and Ecology: Please respect wildlife and ecology. Enjoy our long and native grass fields, but do not enter these areas. Climbing trees, littering, or disturbing the natural environment is not permitted.

Pet-Free Site: For the safety of your pet and site, please leave your pets at home. Only ADA Service dogs are welcome. Emotional support or therapy dogs are not permitted.

General Site Expectations:

  • Touching, walking on, or climbing on works of art is prohibited unless otherwise stated
  • We are a smoke-free site, no smoking of any kind is permitted
  • Outside alcohol is not permitted
  • No weapons
  • No drones, kite flying, or balloons
  • Personal bikes, scooters, skateboards, roller blades, and hoverboards are not permitted
  • No recreational sports and ball playing

Picnicking: Covered and uncovered picnic tables are available for use near the North Meadow and South Fields. Blanket picnics are welcome in the fields but restricted around the Museum Building and sculptures. Use of cooking equipment is not permitted anywhere onsite.

Photography: Visitors are welcome to make photo and video recordings for personal, non-commercial/non-professional use only. Flash photography is restricted in the galleries.

Strollers & Wagons: Most strollers and wagons are suitable for the gravel roads around the site. Due to the varied terrain, heavy-duty strollers are encouraged. Terrain and inclines are indicated on the visitor map.

Lockers: Lockers are available in our Outdoor Lobby free of charge on a first come first served basis. Items that do not fit in a locker may not be left unattended and may not be checked or held. Storm King Art Center is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged.
